PERSONA
Name: Tetsuo Shima
Nicknames:
Gender: Male
Marital Status: Single
Age: 19
Birthday: May, 19
Sexuality: Straight
Special Characteristics: He sticks out in this day and ages because he is always seen in priest garb.
Personality: Light hearted, caring, protective, driven by his own goals, goofy, slightly perverted.
Likes: Naps, not being at the temple, ditching his duties, learning things his own way, Umi, girls.
Dislikes: Being told what to do, feeling like his destiny is set in stone, the cold, people that try to crush others dreams.
Motivations: Tetsuo is driven by some internal idea that he can become a powerful trainer and also make his family proud and take over the family temple when the time comes but that he has to do it in his own way. He always does as he sees fit and ignores what tradition dictates unless it is needed.
Fears: Drowning like his younger brother, failing to live up to his family name and having to return home saying his family was right.
Strengths:
Fan the flames - As lazy as Tetsuo is, he's really good at inciting passion in others. He's good at pushing people to their limit when things are tough, including himself. He's always got the right thing to say.
Legacy of trust- Because of who his family is most people instinctively trust Tetsuo's intentions when first they meet if he is in his hometown of Kyoto. His garb tends to garner trust in other areas of Japan because of how widespread the shinto faith still is. People ten to feel at ease with him, though this is also in part due to his laid back demeanor.
Child of the Sun - Tetsuo, despite their lack of faith in him, like his family specializes in fire type pokemon. He has a natural affinity for training them and even wild ones seem to show him a measure of respect.
Weakness:
Last of his line - Since his brother's death the weight of the family's scorn has been a burden on Tetsuo's shoulders. His father has begrudgingly given him a span of time to grow and do things his way. If he can not prove to his father when he returns home that he is worthy he will be banished from the family and a member of the branch family will be chosen to step up and take his place as successor. This causes Tetsuo no end of grief and guilt. The family is of no aid to him because of his rash choices.
the murky depths- Tetsuo has a deep seated fear of water ever since the day his brother drowned. He takes showers, but he will not take a bath, will not swim, he avoids the rain. He can't even handle having it dumped over him. He feels though he is to blame for his brother's death though it is clearly not his fault.
Spark of rage - Tetsuo can be snarky at times and his tongue is known for getting him into bad situations. Just as much as he is good at motivating people his words can anger as well. He has been in many situations better avoided if only he would hold his tongue.

HISTORY
History: Tetsuo is the Eldest, and now only son of the Shima head family. His family runs the Largest Shinto Shrine in Kyoto. from birth he has been groomed to take over as head of the family if something should happen to his father and grandfather. He had no one to relate to, but he confided in his brother Asuma, who was two years younger than him. They were nearly inseparable and they did everything together. When they both got their first pokemon their adventures expanded as they were allowed to wander farther from home, but not too far. Despite his responsibilities, Tetsuo had a very fun and caring childhood. He did well in school, though he was to relaxed for his instructors sake. As he grew older he got the idea in his head that he wanted to travel the world and train first before being bound to the family. He confided all of his hopes and dreams in his brother.
One day, when they were walking home from a family outing, on the rare occasion that it happened, they were walking along a one lane bridge when a car came barreling around the corner and over the bridge without looking. Without having time to do much more their Father pushed his sons off the bridge into the water below before grabbing their mother and jumping off himself. A few minutes later Tetsuo, his mother, father ,and Kibo were wet and ragged on the shore. His brother was no where to be found. They spent hours, days, weeks looking for Asuma, but he was no where to be found. Tetsuo never truly gave up on finding his brother, or at least his body, but at the age of fifteen, his world was a shattered place.
Since then his grades started slipping, and he started to get into fights more often. His parents worried for him, afraid he would never recover. But he did graduate high school, and they were relieved, but it was then that Tetsuo dropped the news. He was going to discontinue his formal training as per family tradition and seek out his own path as he and Asuma had always dreamed. He would see the world and learn about life outside Kyoto. How could he truly be a good Priest if he could not get to know the people of the world. His mind was set, and he would not extinguish his childhood dreams that he and Asuma had shared. he would go as far as he could and come back a man his family would be proud of. His father reluctantly agreed, knowing that denying him would do no good. He set the conditions that if Tetsuo failed to measure up to his family's expectations, a member of the branch family would take his place as next in line.
Tetsuo agreed to these terms and did not look back. He packed his things and left without another word. With Kibo on his shoulder, they looked into the sunrise together. They would See the world for Asuma, and as long as they had each other close, they knew he was always with them.
